Notary's benefit is a small part of the bill you pay. Most of the bill is a provision to cover taxes, fees to recorder of deeds, and other expenses generated by the notarial procedures that are payable by the customer.
The Notaries bill covers all the expenses supported by the Notary: income of the working stuff, liability insurance, computerization, bookbinding and conservation of the documents, fees paid Notarial College... just a part of the bill represents the Notaries honorary. The notary is obliged to give you a detailed bill for their services and associated costs. If you have any questions or doubts towards the bill, you are free to complain it costless to the Notarial College.
Notaries apply a fixed fee established by the Government. The tariff is the means of retribution of the notarial function and also of the system which is financing security of preventive legal activities.
All notaries in Spain charge the same amount of money for same services. The current tariffs of notaries were established by Government Decree 1426/89 of 17 November, published on November 28 in the BOE.
